Located on the northwest of the coasts of Borneo, the capital city of the Sabah State in Malaysia is Kota Kinabalu. The city is one of the major tourist destinations of Malaysia, however, this is not only due to its lush rainforests and tropical climate, but because it also serves as a gateway to those who will be heading into Sabah or even into Borneo.

Also called KK, the city is home to Mount Kinabalu, a popular hiking destination for many mountaineers. Aside from the mountain and the Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park, tourists may be interested in the Atkinson Clock Tower which is a memorial of the first Jesselton’s district officer, George Atkinson.
